Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition headed to Apple devices next year
CD Projekt Red and Apple have confirmed Cyberpunk 2077 (Phantom Liberty included) is coming to Macs 'early next year'. It will run only on machines with Apple Silicon, but neither company has specified any particular model(s). Ideally, there's nothing stopping you from firing it up on your M1 MacBook Air, but the experience might not be optimal. Nevertheless, this is a huge win for Mac gaming in general.
Cyberpunk 2077 on Macs will support path tracing, spatial audio and frame generation powered by Apple's Metal FX upscaling tech- essentially a modified version of FSR tailor-made for macOS. The addition of path tracing is intriguing, as it is a very resource-heavy feature. Without DLSS, it can even bring a desktop GeForce RTX 4090 to its knees.
Any purchase made on Steam will be carried over to the platform, but your save files might not. Whether or not it will run on Apple M series iPads remains to be seen. Apart from Cyberpunk 2077, macOS will also get Assassin's Creed Shadows, but it isn't known if it is going to be a day-one launch just yet. Other notable entrants include Sid Meier's Civilization 7 and World of Warcraft: The War Within.
