Cyberpunk 2077 is all set to debut on macOS tomorrow (July 17). CD Projekt Red has now revealed its hardware requirements, and, unsurprisingly, you'll need Apple M-series silicon to run the critically acclaimed RPG. An Apple M1, combined with 16 GB of RAM, will get you a modest 30 FPS with an internal resolution of 900p.
For 60 FPS, you'll need an Apple M3 Pro or above and 18 GB of RAM. This will let you play Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p. CD Projekt Red designates this as the 'recommended' hardware. Beyond this point, the requirements become even more ludicrous. 1440p 'High Fidelity' demands an M2 Ultra/M3 Max, and 'Very High Fidelity' ups it further, asking for an M3 Ultra/M4 Max. Both configurations require 32 GB of memory.
By default, ray tracing will be switched off. It can be enabled manually via the settings, but it comes with a performance hit. An Apple M3 Pro will be able to pull off 30 FPS at 1080p, while an M3 Max can up that number to 60 FPS at the same resolution. MetalFX DRS will be required to hit the said FPS targets.
Interestingly, Cyberpunk 2077 bought from Steam/GOG/Epic Games takes up only 92 GB of hard drive space. The App Store version demands a whopping 159 GB due to all language packs being bundled together. Essentially, you're better off buying from a third-party storefront to save on precious storage.
