Cyberpunk 2077 will finally be released for macOS on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The Ultimate Edition, which also includes the Phantom Liberty expansion, will be available on the Mac App Store upon release, but the Mac version can also be purchased via Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store. CD Projekt Red emphasizes that this is a native macOS version with numerous technical optimizations.
The game runs on all Macs equipped with at least an Apple M1 and 16 GB of RAM. CD Projekt Red includes a graphics preset for each Apple M-series chip so that players don't have to waste any time in determining the optimal graphics settings. It is currently unclear which resolution, frame rate and graphics quality are possible with older chips. Cyberpunk 2077 on MacOS also supports HDR, Spatial Audio and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, including frame generation. Apple's proprietary MetalFX upscaling technology is also supported.
The game is expected to support all features already found on the PC version, including integrated benchmarking and the improved photo mode introduced with the patch to version 2.3. Real-time ray tracing is also expected to be possible on Apple's most powerful chips. The video embedded below shows the Mac version in action. Cyberpunk 2077 was originally released in December 2020 and largely impressed critics with a Metascore of 86 out of 100 possible points.
