There have been rumors of another Nintendo Direct happening this summer but an exact date is unclear at this point. While that remains to be the case, latest leaks hint at a final week of July timeline. As to what it will entail, a focus on third-party games is expected which would fall in line with previous leaks of big announcements for the next Direct event.
Credible leaker Nate The Hate uploaded his latest podcast (linked below) on YouTube talking about what’s in store for the Nintendo Switch 2. The two main topics of discussion were the limited number of Switch 2 dev kits and the next Nintendo Direct. Talking about the rumored next Nintendo Direct event (42 minute mark), the leaker stated that he has been told the event will take place after the release of Donkey Kong Bananza on July 17. There isn’t an exact date at this point but Nate The Hate speculates it will be shortly before the company’s earnings call on August 1. This suggests the event could be held in the last week of July.
As to what announcements will be included at the Nintendo Direct, Nate The Hate and his co-hosts believe that it could be focussed on third-party offerings. As Nintendo continues to expand its first-party portfolio for the Switch 2, fans are still waiting on release dates for third-party titles like Elden Ring, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, The Duskbloods, Hades II, and others.
One of the co-hosts also shared that big third-party publishers also have projects in the pipeline for the Switch 2. These include Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, and even Microsoft who are waiting to announce those titles. However, those could be pushed to 2026 and the lack of Switch 2 dev kits, discussed early on in the podcast, could be a reason for that.
Notably, Nintendo has not made any official announcements about a Direct event for July. If there is an event lined up, an announcement can be expected next week (July 20 – July 27).
