The Switch 2 has landed on the U.S. Amazon storefront following more than a month-long delay. Lucky buyers will receive an invitation to purchase the console at standard Switch 2 prices. Both Nintendo and Amazon denied a report suggesting that the companies were feuding.

After disappointing buyers on the Nintendo Switch 2 release date, the console is now available on the U.S. Amazon site. The retailer recently started selling first-party Switch 2 games, hinting that the handheld would follow. Sure enough, gamers can order the system, but Amazon is restricting purchases to invite-only.

There are no surprises with the Switch 2 price at Amazon. The $449.99 base configuration and $499.99 Mario Kart World Bundle are both options. Once buyers click on the "Request Invite" button, they may receive an email with a purchase link within 24 hours. However, as seen on other storefronts, limited quantities will likely lead to some unhappy customers.

When Nintendo's latest console launched on June 5th, it was absent from Amazon.com. However, the retail giant did offer the system on other regional sites, including Canada and Germany. Meanwhile, U.S. competitors like Best Buy, Walmart, and Target benefited from additional Switch 2 pre-order sales.

Many analysts suspected that Amazon and the Japanese manufacturer were at odds. A Bloomberg article explained that Nintendo opposed third-party sellers listing Switch 2 games and consoles. Merchants could acquire the system at lower prices in parts of Asia and earn acceptable profits when reselling it. For now, only Amazon itself appears to be selling the console.

Both companies denied the Bloomberg story, but buyers remained skeptical. Amazon is the top online retailer in the United States. Not surprisingly, it participated in past console launches for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. A disagreement of some sort seemed like the only logical explanation.

How often Amazon will restock the Switch 2 is unclear. After Nintendo prepared a stockpile before its release date, availability has become sporadic. The situation in most regions is at least less dire than in Japan, which may experience shortages until Spring 2026.
