Retroid has made a demo video showing its Dual Screen Add-on in use with two of its handhelds. The accessory adds a second screen above a compatible handheld mimicking dual-screen devices such as the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS.
The 3-minute long video shows the Retroid Dual Screen Add-on in use with a Retroid Pocket Mini and a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro (available on Amazon for $199). The video shows that the Dual-Screen Add-on has a removable USB-C to USB-C cable that plugs into the port on the display and then plugs into the port on the handheld.
The video shows the Retroid Pocket Mini running a racing game. During this session, the Dual Screen serves as the main display while the screen on the handheld displays a map, car position, and other game info. In the demo with the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, the dual screen add-on plays a YouTube video while the user plays a game on the handheld. With this mode, users can choose to play a walkthrough video on the external screen while playing the game on the handheld.
This isn't the first video that Retroid has made showing the screen accessory ahead of its release. In an earlier video below, the Dual Screen Add-on is shown mirroring the display of the handheld. The video also shows how users can choose a split screen mode with one screen displaying a different content from the other.
Retroid offers two versions of the Dual Screen Add-on. There's a version that's compatible with Retroid devices (Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, Retroid Pocket 5, and Retroid Pocket Mini). It also offers a version with a longer back clip that's compatible with other devices with a screen size of between 6-7 inches, a maximum height of 115mm, and DisplayPort via USB-C.
Both versions of the Retroid Dual Screen Add-on are currently available to order directly from Retroid for $69 but buyers can get a $5 discount when they use the code ‘‘RDS’’. Shipping is expected to begin on August 5.
