Retroid has revealed the Pocket Mini, its first retro gaming handheld since last year's Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro. While the Retroid Pocket Mini resembles the Anbernic RG40XX H, it will feature a 960p OLED display.

The retro gaming handheld market continues to grow at a rapid rate thanks to the likes of Anbernic, AYANEO, Powkiddy and others. In recent years, Retroid has also frequently offered up new models, albeit not so far this year. In fact, Retroid has not released any gaming handhelds since December 2023, when it introduced the Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro (curr. $249.99 on Amazon).

Instead, it has only presented the Retroid Official Dock, launch details of which we have covered separately. Now it has unveiled the Pocket Mini though, which bears more than a passing resemblance to the RG40XX H that Anbernic released just over a month ago. However, the Pocket Mini has a trick up its sleeve that the RG40XX H lacks.

Specifically, Retroid has confirmed that it has designed the Pocket Mini around an OLED display, which remains an uncommon panel type among retro gaming handhelds. While the company is not ready to disclose too many specifics yet, it has confirmed that the Pocket Mini's OLED display will output at 1,280 x 960 pixels across a 3.7-inch diagonal with a 4:3 aspect ratio. On top of that, the Pocket Mini will contain the usual array of gamepad controls, including a pair of joysticks. Please see Retroid's teaser video below for more information.
