ZOTAC reveals stylish gaming handheld docking station with hidden stand and M.2 SSD slot
ZOTAC has just launched the ZONE, its rival to the ASUS ROG Ally (curr. $499 on Amazon) and the newer ROG Ally X. However, it has also finally shared more details about the gaming handheld's official dock, which it sells as the ZOTAC GAMING Docking Station and describes as follows in its recent press release:
...a docking station with a well-rounded selection of ports as well as an interface for an additional fast NVMe SSD storage to convert the handheld gaming into a full-fledged desktop.
Theoretically, there is nothing stopping one from using ZOTAC's docking station with most other gaming handhelds, provided they support DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB Type-C and have a top-mounted Type-C port. Handily, ZOTAC has also integrated a foldable stand that serves as a top cover when not in use. Moreover, the dock has an M.2 (2230/2242/2260/2280) slot that runs at up to PCIe Gen 3 x2 and the following ports:
Rear
- 1x USB Type-C power input
- 1x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet
- 1x HDMI 2.0 (4K/60 Hz)
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A
Left
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C
Right
- 1x USB 3.0 Type-A
Unfortunately, ZOTAC is still yet to announce launch pricing in any market. With that being said, we imagine that it will do so during Gamescom 2024, which runs until Sunday. Incidentally, ZOTAC has also revealed an official carry case for the ZONE, a photo of which we have embedded below; pricing for this accessory remains unknown for now too.
