The PikaBoost 2 from Livall is now crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The e-bike conversion kit features several upgrades compared to its predecessor, including a higher maximum assistance speed and an increased assistance range. Other features include app-based controls, regenerative braking and fall detection.

Livall has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the PikaBoost 2 e-bike conversion kit. At the time of writing, the product has more than 200 backers and has raised over $80,000, surpassing its $5,000 funding goal. The original PikaBoost was crowdfunded via Kickstarter in 2022.

According to Livall, their new product is compatible with most bike models and tires, with wheel sizes between 14 and 29 inches, and can be installed in one minute with a proprietary tool to reduce the risk of theft. A 500W motor with AAR 2.0 technology provides a top assistance speed of 32 kph (~20 mph), an increase on the 25 kph (~16 mph) top speed of the older model, and there are four driving modes: Power Assist, Cruise, Workout and Eco. Another upgrade over its predecessor is the assistance range. The standard 158Wh lithium-ion battery allows you to ride for 96 km (~59 miles), up from 30 km (~18 miles) and is fully recharged via USB-C in around three hours. Other features include a regenerative braking system, a rear LED light, and safety features such as fall detection, slip detection and an intelligent e-brake.

Thanks to Bluetooth, you can adjust the PikaBoost’s settings via the accompanying app, which is available for iOS and Android. The starter kit includes the PikaBoost 2, weighing 3 kg (~6.6 lbs), a remote controller, mudguards, the 158Wh power pack weighing 1 kg (~2.2 lbs), and a USB-C charging cable. The Endurance Bundle adds a 220Wh battery pack, a fast charging cable, and tires. The PikaBoost 2 Starter is available with a pledge of $279, 24% off the RRP, while the Endurance Bundle is offered for $388, a 31% saving on the expected future retail price. Both are listed as shipping to backers in countries worldwide across September and October. As with any crowdfunding campaign, there is no guarantee that backers will receive the product.
