The Cyplore is a new e-bike kit that makes it easy to convert a conventional bicycle into an electric one. Besides having an exceptionally lightweight design, it adds no extra resistance when the motor is switched off.

Several manufacturers now offer conversion kits to transform conventional bicycles into e-bikes. Rather than applying power to the rear tyre like the Pikaboost 2, the Cyplore features a hub motor and is compatible with 142 mm thru-axle rear dropouts.

The entire system weighs just 1.5 kg (3.3 lb), comprising a 900 g (2.0 lb) hub motor and a 600 g (1.3 lb) battery. The 111 Wh battery can be easily mounted on a bike, much like a standard water bottle. Meanwhile, the magnetic modular remote doesn’t require a physical connection to the motor, which delivers up to 33 Nm of torque, and communicates wirelessly with the battery. The kit is designed with road and gravel cyclists in mind, since they likely prefer a moderate level of assist if the need arises.

Four power modes are available, including a training mode intended to help riders keep their heart rate within a target zone. The system also supports Strava and ANT+ integration. The Cyplore kit alone is priced at $779 during the preorder phase, whilst a version that includes a pre-built carbon wheel retails for $1,039. For the EU market, the company also offers a variant that limits motor assistance to 25 km/h.
