The Jimove LC2, a compact e-bike, is currently being financed as part of a crowdfunding campaign. The first 99 supporters are promised a unit for a price of just $399. There is currently no information on the start date of the campaign, but interested parties can be notified by email. Potential supporters should also keep in mind that such a crowdfunding campaign is associated with considerable financial risks, including the eventuality that the product will not ultimately make it to market.
The LC2 is said to offer a speed of up to 22.5 km/h (14 mph) and is likely designed as a bike for short distances, such as from the subway to the workplace. A maximum output of 350 watts is specified; users should check the laws of their state or country to determine whether this is in the permissible range. In Europe and Australia, for example, the maximum permissble power output is generally stated as 250 W (may vary from state to state). In Canada, on the other hand, e-bikes are limited to 500 W output in all eight provinces. The United States, however, is a little more complicated, as the use of e-bikes on public streets is subject to state vehicle codes.
The battery is said to have a capacity of 345.6 Wh, can be charged within four hours and also doubles as a power bank. It can also be easily removed and charged outside the e-bike. The frame is made of aluminum and the weight specified as just under 20 kilograms (44 pounds). The e-bike cannot be folded at the frame, but the handlebars can be folded down. Lastly, the handlebars and saddle are also height-adjustable, accomodating riders from 4’11” to 6’3” (150cm–190cm).
