Heybike has launched its latest X-series fat-tire e-bikes in the US. The company has introduced two premium fat-tire electric bikes under the X-series, namely, the Mars 3.0 and the Ranger 3.0 Pro. Both models have been targeted at different sets of consumers. For example, the former has a high-peak-power motor suitable for riders who want more power, while the latter is designed for riders who value comfort and range over outright speed.
First, let’s talk about Mars 3.0. Heybike has incorporated a 750 W rear hub motor into the Mars 3.0 that delivers a peak power output of 1,400 W, 95 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 28 mph (45 kph). With Heybike’s new Galaxy Perform eDrive system, riders can also unlock a maximum speed of 30 mph (48.2 kph) via the display. A 624 Wh removable battery is fitted in the fat-tire e-bike, enabling you to ride for up to 65 miles (105 km) on a single charge.
The Mars 3.0 has a full suspension system—a hydraulic fork up front with 65 mm travel and a Horst-link setup in the back—for a smoother ride even on bumpy roads. Furthermore, it has hydraulic disk brakes with 2.0 mm-thick rotors in 180 mm diameter. Dimensionally, it measures 38.2 x 19.7 x 33.1 inches (970.2 x 500.3 x 840.7 mm) when folded and weighs 32 kg (70 lbs).
On the other hand, the Ranger 3.0 Pro boasts a similar 750 W rear hub motor but offers slightly less peak power and torque—a 1,200 W peak power output and 80 Nm of torque. However, the motor offers the same 28 mph (45 kph) top speed as the Mars 3.0. According to the company, the Ranger 3.0 is more about range and comfort than speed. Compared to the former, it has a slightly bigger battery. More specifically, a 720 Wh removable battery powers the Ranger 3.0 Pro, which is said to offer up to 90 miles (145 km) of range per charge.
Speaking of the suspension system, it has a hydraulic fork with 65 mm wheel travel and an adjustable air shock in the rear. Moreover, the Ranger 3.0 Pro uses a hydroformed aluminum alloy frame for added strength.
Despite their different personalities, both variants share some similar specs. The Heybike X series e-bikes come with a Shimano Altus 8-speed drivetrain, a torque sensor, a smart access system that lets you unlock the e-bike with an NFC card, a new TFT display for checking speed, battery levels, and speed mode, and an IP65 ingress protection. Additionally, both e-bikes can handle payloads of up to 440 lbs (200 kg) and support the Heybike app.
As for the price, the Heybike Mars 3.0 starts at $1,199 and comes in orange, stormy blue, and nightrider black colorways. The Ranger 3.0 Pro is priced at $1,399 and is available in emerald green, sapphire blue, and ruby red color options. There’s also a Miami Sunset Limited Edition (limited to 200 units only), which is priced at $1,599.
