Canyon is launching a new e-bike with a mid-drive motor and interesting specifications, including automatic shifting, which means that riders basically just have to pedal and enjoy the ride.
Canyon is offering a new e-bike called the Pathlite:ON SUV 9, which takes advantage of all modern e-bike technologies, at least on paper. The bicycle features a mid-drive motor with a torque sensor and hydraulic disc brakes with an anti-lock braking system. While it's easy to brake hard with hydraulic disc brakes like the Magura MT C, which have four pistons and 8-inch rotors, the ABS is designed to prevent skidding, rear wheel lift and potentially dangerous crashes over the handlebars that could lead to head injuries.
The new Canyon e-bike is further equipped with a Tektro RD-8000E 12-speed derailleur system, which can shift automatically if desired and select an appropriate gear on inclines. Such a feature can also be very useful for stop-and-go traffic in the city. In addition to that, the Pathlite:ON SUV 9 is equipped with a 5th-gen Bosch Performance Line CX motor and a Bosch PowerTube battery with 800Wh of capacity. A 250Wh range extender is also available, and the bike sports 27.5-inch Maxxis Crossmark II tires.
The Fox Float 34 AWL fork with lockout and 120mm of travel makes this e-bike suitable for lighter trails. Lastly, Canyon’s new bike has an aluminium frame, preinstalled lights, a rack and fenders. The Pathlite:ON SUV 9 is now orderable in Europe for €5,999, but it has not been listed at the company’s official US online store thus far.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
