The ZET is a new e-bike which might be a car replacement, at least for urban settings. Since the bike has four wheels, it shouldn’t tip over as easily as regular bicycles, while a roof provides at least some protection against rain. In practice, the bike might still be reasonably usable even in freezing temperatures. Thanks to four wheels, this vehicle won’t tip over if a tire loses grip and slips. That being said, the ZET is open on the left and right sides and does not have any type of heating.
This new electric cargo bike is being offered in quite different versions. Specifically, the four-wheeler is available as a so-called Urban model, which is suitable for transporting a second adult or a child. Even with two adult seats installed, there is still a lockable transport box with a rather generous volume of 3.7 cubic feet. The Urban Pure version doesn’t have a second seat, but it can accommodate significantly more luggage.
On the other hand, the ZET Family sports rain protection, seatbelts and enough space for up to four children. The lockable storage box is smaller and has a volume of 1.76 cubic feet in this case. Furthermore, there is a model variant that’s specifically designed for cargo transport. The ZET Box has a lockable storage space with a whopping 23.66 cubic feet of volume.
Depending on local laws and regulations, these unusual e-bikes can often be driven without a driver's license. They require pedaling but the electric motor provides some support for speeds up to 15 mph. In Germany, the Urban Pure is starting at €7,779 including 19% VAT. This price applies to the model with the smallest battery and an official range of up to 31 miles. It's unclear if this intriguing e-bike will launch in other European or international markets.
