The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Plus has been officially revealed. This e-scooter was spotted in the databases of the TDRA and the Federal Motor Transport Authority, or the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA), earlier this year.
Xiaomi is now selling the Electric Scooter 5 Plus in the Philippines; this is the first market to get the new model. In the Electric Scooter 5 series, it sits above the entry-level and Pro, but below the Max version. With the tagline 'go bigger, ride smoother', this model features 12-inch tubeless tires for a more stable ride; all other models in the range have 10-inch tires. This model also has a larger deck and a higher handlebar than the base model, though Xiaomi has not provided exact measurements.
The Electric Scooter 5 Plus has a maximum speed of 25 kph (~16 mph) and offers up to 60 km (~37 miles) range. It is equipped with a 900W maximum power motor and can tackle inclines up to 20%. Riders can choose from three modes, with various settings and journey information available in the Xiaomi Home app. There is a dual-spring shock absorber at the front, a traction control system (TCS) and dual braking technologies. The folding e-scooter has a carbon steel body and is fitted with lights at the front and rear.
In the Philippines, the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 Plus is priced at PHP 30,999 (~£402/€466). Based on this pricing, it is expected to cost between £449.99/€549.99 and £499.99/€599.99 in Europe. Alongside a product lisintg on the brand's global website, support pages for the e-scooter have appeared in the UK and France. The appearance of these pages suggest that a wider release is imminent.
