Kalkhoff Endeavour L Excite: New trekking e-bike with Bosch mid-motor and extensive equipment coming
The Kalkhoff Endeavour L Excite is now available, depending on where you are. In the UK, for example, the e-bike has a price tag of £3,999. In Australia, this is A$5,999. However, Kalkhoff appears to have suspended sales in the United States "until further notice," for which it does not give a reason.
The e-bike is offered in two colors, and the individual sizes (M or L) depends on the color chosen. As this is a trekking e-bike, it comes with a variety of equipment such as a luggage rack, which is compatible with the MIK system and can thus be used with compatible baskets. The luggage rack can carry up to 25 kilograms.
Both the headlights and the rear light are from Herrmans. A rear kickstand is available and mudguards are also included. Kalkhoff installs a Bosch Performance Line SX motor, which is somewhat more compact and lighter, since the torque is limited to 55 Newton meters, but this should not really be a major limitation in everyday use. A Bosch Purion 200 color display is mounted and the Bosch CompactTube battery has a capacity of 400 Wh. The e-bike is powered via a chain; the Shimano Deore XT derailleur system has 12 gears. There are 160 millimeter Magura MT30 hydraulic brake discs at the front and rear, which are intended to operate in all weather conditions and so can also brake very strongly in an emergency in wet conditions.
Schwalbe G-One Overland Performance tires are fitted, which promise a high level of grip and puncture protection on unpaved roads. As a rigid fork is fitted, riding comfort may not be the best. Lastly, the bike weight is 20-21kg, and the permissible total rider weight is stated as 130 kilograms.
