First announced on March 18, the Retroid Pocket Classic is a vertical handheld with a design that is reminiscent of the Nintendo Game Boy Color. Available in seven colors including a six-button version called the Classic 6, the Pocket Classic may soon add an eight color.
According to a post on X by the Retroid Pocket account, the brand will release a new color for the six-button version based on the SEGA Genesis. However, that would only happen if the post received 350 likes. As at the time of writing, the post already has 785 likes which is more than double the required amount. So it is safe to say that there's definitely a new color coming.
In addition, the post also includes an image of the Retroid Pocket Classic in the new color. The handheld has an all black appearance save for the XYZ buttons which are a light shade of gray. Save for the color, the specs should be the same as the other versions.
The Retroid Pocket Classic has a 3.92-inch 1240 x 1080 AMOLED display with a brightness level of 500 nits. Running Android 14, the handheld is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 gaming chipset. It is available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB of expandable storage respectively. The Pocket Classic also has four shoulder buttons, a cooling fan, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 27W fast charging.
The Retroid Pocket Classic is available to buy directly from Retroid for $99 for the base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage while the 6+128GB version costs $129. However, you can also purchase the 6+128GB version on Amazon for $149.
