Ayaneo has announced a plethora of gaming handhelds, but most of them have a horizontal/landscape design save for the Pocket DMG which is the only vertical/portrait handheld the Chinese manufacturer currently sells. However, that will change as Ayaneo has revealed that it has a new vertical handheld called the Pocket Vert in development.
The Ayaneo Pocket Vert is described as a ‘passion project for true handheld enthusiasts’. According to the details provided during the livestream of its strategy session, the handheld will have a retro design and an ultra high resolution display. For context, the Ayaneo Pocket DMG has a 1240 x 1080 OLED display with a 419 ppi and a peak brightness level of 450 nits, so it is expected that the Pocket Vert's display will trump that of the Pocket DMG.
The upcoming handheld is also reported to be made from premium materials and boasts a high build quality and a level of craftsmanship that makes it not just any handheld console but a piece of art worthy of being a collectable. Based on these descriptions, we can expect the Ayaneo Pocket Vert won't be cheap, probably costing at least double the price of the Retroid Pocket Classic (available on Amazon for $149.00).
Ayaneo didn't reveal any technical specifications of the Ayaneo Pocket Vert handheld and when it is expected to launch. However, considering the strategy session is for 2025 and 2026, there's a possibility it may not launch this year. Also, taking into the fact that Ayaneo is known for not meeting its scheduled release dates, there's a possibility this handheld might face delays too.
