The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 was released back in March 2025 as a clamshell foldable handheld gaming device. The Android-powered device is available in two versions — a Snapdragon 865 variant and a Dimensity 1100 variant that began shipping in July.
While the handheld has received mostly positive reviews praising its performance, battery life, and display, it appears some users have experienced issues with the build. Apparently, there have been reports of cracked hinges, and to remedy the situation, Retroid has announced a solution for those who are affected.
According to a post from the company, users who have noticed a hairline crack on the hinge of the Pocket Flip 2 can get a replacement unit at no additional cost. All they have to do is send an email to the customer service team ([email protected]) and a pre-paid shipping label will be sent to the customer to send back their damaged device. Once the package has been received by the carrier, Retroid will send back a new unit to the user.
The post also mentioned that Retroid has been unable to reproduce the cracked hinge issue at its factory despite multiple tests. However, it is still taking the complaints seriously and intends to resolve the issues for affected customers. It has also been reported by Retro Game Corps that Retroid will also offer users a Retroid Pocket 5 (curr. available on Amazon for $259) as a replacement device if they do not want the Pocket Flip 2 anymore.
It is not explicitly stated that the replacement only applies to those who purchased directly from Retroid, but if you purchased from a third-party, you may want to contact the seller to find out how to go about getting a replacement.
