Yesterday, Mozilla updated all stable releases of the Firefox browser, as well as the preview builds. Now, the standard release is up to version 132.0, the two ESR ones go to 128.4.0 and 115.17.0, while the preview releases are now at 133.0b1 (beta & developer edition) and 133.0a1 (nightly). Obviously, the most important changes that need to be pointed out are in the desktop stable builds, which are available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Without further ado, these are the highlights of Firefox 132.0 stable:
- Microsoft PlayReady encrypted media playback is now available on "select sites" on the Windows version of the browser, with a 1080p baseline and 4K UHD support for less battery drain and better performance.
- Wide Color Gamut WebGL on Windows and macOS, allowing for "a richer, more vivid range of colors" with support for 8-bit P3 profiles.
- Most SVG filter primitives get WebRender hardware-accelerated rendering.
- Support for the new screen and window sharing selection features on macOS 15 and later, macOS 14 to receive it in the future.
- Improved macOS session resume, with automatic relaunch after a system restart, caused by reasons such as an OS update.
- Third-party cookie access is now blocked when Enhanced Tracking Protection Strict mode is enabled.
Those interested in the updated Firefox for Enterprise can check out the release notes on this page. Obviously, all builds also received several security fixes and tweaks.
When it comes to streaming, those interested in taking advantage of a good deal can grab the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K for 40% off, which is $29.99 instead of the $49.99 list price. A trade-in is also possible, and it will bring a further 20% discount.
