NethSecurity 8.3 arrives with new monitoring tools and centralized update management
NethSecurity 8.3 is now available with a focus on new features for subscriptions and an improved user experience. This updated Linux firewall solution sports a centralized unit update management interface, comprehensive real-time and historical monitoring, a new NAT helper configuration page, and more.
OpenWrt-based Linux distro NethSecurity is back with a new version, labeled 8.3, which pushes the image version number to 8-23.05.5-ns.1.3.0 while delivering several new features for subscriptions, as well as an improved user experience overall. As the image version number suggests, NethSecurity 8.3 is based on OpenWrt 23.05.5, which was unleashed on September 25th and is the latest release at this time.
Just as expected, NethSecurity 8.3 benefits from all the changes that come with the latest OpenWrt release, which was mentioned above. Its changelog is available on this page. The other highlights of NethSecurity 8.3 include the following:
Centralized unit update management, so both packages and/or images can be used to update multiple units from the controller.
A comprehensive dashboard for real-time monitoring.
Historical monitoring from the NethSecurity Controller, which is only available for subscriptions.
Protection against brute force attacks has been added to the web interface.
The Threat Shield page now shows the local block list, logging, and brute force protection settings.
NethSecurity now features a new NAT helper configuration page.
Port forwarding got enhanced object support.
The paid NethSecurity subscriptions available are: Personal (97 euros) and Business (297 euros), with a 30-day free trial period available, while the Partner plan requires a fee that will depend on the requirements. Obviously, those interested in it should contact the sales department of Nethesis, the company behind NethSecurity.
Home users looking for a decent router can currently grab the TP-Link AX3000 (Archer AX55) off Amazon for $86 instead of $99.99, which can also get the job done in small offices without high networking requirements.

In my early school days, I hated writing and having to make up stories. A decade later, I started to enjoy it. Since then, I published a few offline articles and then I moved to the online space, where I contributed to major websites that are still present online as of 2021 such as Softpedia, Brothersoft, Download3000, but I also wrote for multiple blogs that have disappeared over the years. I've been riding with the Notebookcheck crew since 2013 and I am not planning to leave it anytime soon. In love with good mechanical keyboards, vinyl and tape sound, but also smartphones, streaming services, and digital art.
