Debian-based distro Parrot 6.2 intros the Rocket launcher alongside several package updates
Released over a decade ago and known for a while as "Parrot Security OS," today's Parrot is a Debian-based Linux distro with a clear focus, namely ethical hacking. The system includes a rich collection of tools that were designed for tasks that include penetration testing, reverse engineering, hacking, data encryption and decryption, and so on. Yesterday, a new version was released, and its list of changes includes a solid new tool, which is the Rocket launcher for Docker containers.
Also available for Windows and macOS, Rocket is a launcher that was written entirely in Python using PyQt6 for the GUI. In this case, it is used to launch Docker containers, specifically security tools such as Nmap, Metasploit, SET, BeEF, sqlmap, and more. Obviously, it also runs on most other Linux distributions as well.
Among many others, the list of upgraded packages/apps includes Chromium 129, Firefox ESR 128.3, Flatpack 1.14.10, VirtualBox 7.0.20, VLC 3.0.21, and Tor 0.4.8.12. The Raspberry Pi images come with a new kernel version, which is 6.6.43. The other editions feature version 6.10.11 of the Linux kernel. All the available downloads can be found on this page.
