Debian 12.7-based MX Linux 23.4 launches with multiple fixes, tweaks, and updated packages
On May 19 2024, MX Linux 23.3 arrived as the third refresh of this Debian-based distro's version 23, which in turn was introduced at the end of July, 2023. Yesterday, MX Linux 23.4 was released to address some issues that surfaced after the launch of its predecessor, but also to update the kernel, applications, and language packs of the available versions. As its predecessor, MX Linux 23.4 is available in Flubox, KDE, and Xfce versions, all sporting the Linux kernel 6.1.106. The AHS (Advanced Hardware Support) version, on the other hand, comes with the 6.10.10 liqourix core.
According to the official release notes (check the link right after the end of the article for all the details), MX Linux 23.4 also includes the following highlights:
- Xfce 4.18 core package updates (Xfce ISOs and the Pi Respin).
- Improved filters in the MX Packageinstaller.
- MX Tweak gets a KDE switch for the plasma-discover autostart systray updater notifier.
- Updated firmware packages for the AHS version, backported from Debian sid.
- The job-scheduler cron front-end, which was already available in the other ISOs, is now present in the Fluxbox ISO.
- Many fixes, language updates, and new apps in the MX "test" repository.
In addition to the four versions mentioned earlier, it should also be mentioned that the MX Raspberry Pi Respin got the most recent packages from the MX and RPiOS repositories. While MX Linux is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, the AHS version only supports 64-bit processors.
