Firefox gets back the option to remove the "List All Tabs" button
On October 10th, the user Postone started a discussion on Mozilla Connect regarding the lack of an option to disable and/or remove the "List All Tabs" button. While he also mentioned "Tab preview," Firefox 131.0.3 only addressed the other issue. However, Mozilla considered it a bug and not a planned change.
The Bugzilla page concerning this topic reveals that the problem surfaced with the arrival of Firefox 132. Labeled as a defect with a P1 priority and S2 severity, the issue is now a matter of the past. The bug report was closed eight days ago with a "fixed" status.
Bug or not, the inability to remove the "List All Tabs" was a quite severe inconsistency of the user experience provided by Firefox. While this was still an issue, the users who were looking to customize the interface were able to remove virtually all the other similar interface elements, including the "New Tab" button. For now, everything is good, but the conclusion of the Mozilla Connect user mentioned in the beginning should worry those in charge of this web browser:
"It seems, when compared to 10, or 15 yrs ago, things are getting worse, and more complicated, rather than easier."
