Amazon pulls the plug on the Kindle Oasis as the last model with page turn buttons
Amazon has announced four new Kindle devices for 2024, but missing from the lineup is a new Kindle Oasis. It was intentional as Amazon has revealed it is pulling the plug on the Kindle Oasis.
The Kindle Oasis was first announced in 2016 and a refresh came in 2017. By 2018, it replaced the Kindle Voyage as Amazon's top of the line eReader. In 2019, Amazon announced a new generation Kindle Oasis. Five years later, there hasn't been a new Kindle Oasis, and according to the tech giant, there won't be one.

The information about the Kindle Oasis getting discontinued was revealed to The Verge by Devon Corvasce who is the Sr. PR Manager, Devices at Amazon. In Amazon's words, the Kindle Oasis will not be restocked once it sells out online and in stores.
It's not just that Amazon is killing the Kindle Oasis, Corvasce also added that all Amazon's “devices are touch-forward which is what our customers are comfortable with.” This implies the Kindle Oasis is the last Kindle with physical page turn buttons. That's a bummer as the physical buttons are actually one of its unique selling points.
At the moment, the Kindle Oasis is listed as currently unavailable on Amazon. However, if you live outside the US, you can still purchase the international version for $135. If you want a new Kindle and don't fancy the lack of page turn buttons, then Amazon's new Kindles are actually not bad.
The Kindle Paperwhite now has a 7'' screen while the basic Kindle has a brighter display. There's also the Kindle Colorsoft which has a color screen or you can choose the Kindle Scribe which is not only an eReader but also a digital notebook.
For those who absolutely want an eReader with physical page turn buttons, there's the Kobo Libra Colour (available on Amazon for $219.99) which also has a color screen, an IPX8 water resistant rating, and an optional stylus.
