Kindle Paperwhite 2024
The Kindle Paperwhite 2024 or Kindle Paperwhite (12th generation) has gotten a display upgrade. It is now bigger at 7'' and features an oxide thin-film transistor which Amazon says 'gives it the highest contrast ratio of any Kindle'. Amazon also says it features 25% faster page turns than the previous generation.
Despite the larger display, this model is reported to be the thinnest Paperwhite ever made, and it manages that even with a battery life of up to three months. It is available with 16GB of storage, has dual-band Wi-Fi, charges at 9W via USB-C, and is rated IPX8 for water resistance.
There's also the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition which has 32GB of storage, wireless charging, and auto-adjusting front light sensors.
The Kindle Paperwhite is available to buy in Black, Raspberry, and Jade with price starting at $159.99 with ads, and going up to $179.99 without lockscreen ads. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is available in metallic hues of the colors above and is priced at $199.99 (no ads).
Kindle 2024
The new entry-level Kindle or Kindle (11th generation) - 2024 release keeps the design of the 2022 model. It is still a 6'' glare-free screen with a 300 ppi, but it's now 25% brighter. Amazon even says it is as bright as the Kindle Paperwhite.
Save for the brighter screen and a new Matcha green color in addition to black, the Kindle 2024 is not different from the 2022 edition which explains why it is still referred to as the 11th generation Kindle.
Surprisingly, Amazon is now charging more for it. Unlike the 2022 model which launched for $99.99, the Kindle 2024 starts at $109.99 for the version with ads, and goes up to $129.99 without lockscreen ads.
