New Amazon Fire TV Stick HD with voice remote launches as entry-level model
Amazon has launched the Fire TV Stick HD in countries worldwide. This model is replacing the older Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick Lite as the entry-level model in the line-up. It will sit alongside the Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
The new Fire TV Stick HD has the same features as its predecessor, providing access to apps like Prime Video, Netflix and Disney+. The gadget offers 1080p streaming and supports HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. While it lacks support for Dolby Vision, as seen on the 4K models, it is compatible with Dolby encoded audio. The device plugs into your TV via HDMI, with 8GB storage, 1GB memory and Wi-Fi 5 connectivity. Plus, the Fire TV Stick comes with an Alexa voice remote, which you can use to search for TV and movies, adjust the volume or control linked smart home devices.
Included in the box are the Fire TV Stick, Alexa Voice Remote, HDMI Extender, power cable and adapter and two AAA batteries. The Amazon Fire TV Stick HD retails for $34.99/£39.99/€44.99, a price halfway between the Lite and Fire TV Stick models it is replacing. Plus, customers who trade in an older model or competitor product are offered up to 20% off their purchase.
