To put these prices into perspective, the Samsung QN85D is currently retailing for $1,198, $1,598, and $1,998 on Amazon for the 65, 75, and 85-inch SKUs. Samsung QN85D enjoys high brightness and contrast
While the Samsung QN85D is a great TV overall, its key strengths lie in contrast, color reproduction, and brightness levels. For instance, RTINGS notes that the TV has a high native contrast of 5,537:1 that shoots up to an incredible 136,667:1 level with local dimming. Combined with a DCI-P3 uv coverage of 93% and excellent color volume, the QN85D’s color output is quite good.
The Samsung QN85D also performs well when playing HDR media thanks to its elevated brightness levels of 872 nits (Peak 2% Window). The high brightness is also exhibited in both HDR Game Mode and SDR with figures of 710 and 790 nits (Peak 2% Window), respectively.
Samsung has also bundled some must-have features for gamers with support for 4K@120 Hz, VRR, low input lag, and a quick response time. The QN85D also works perfectly with both the Xbox Series S | X and the Sony PlayStation 5 (Available on Amazon).
However, the Samsung QN85D isn’t really suitable for group viewing due to its poor viewing angles. This is, perhaps, the biggest shortcoming of the otherwise superb mid-range TV. So, if you don’t plan to use your TV for hosting large movie nights, the Samsung QN85D puts forth a stellar value proposition with the latest discounts.
