Amazon has announced new Omni smart TVs with mini-LED displays for better picture quality. They also boast premium sound, gaming features, and up-to-date connectivity.

Amazon has announced new models for its Omni line of smart TVs. What makes these new TVs special is that they are the first models in the Omni line to use mini-LED technology. They also have features that make them great for gaming.

The new Fire TV Omni Mini-LED series has a QLED mini-LED display with a peak brightness of up to 1,400 nits and up to 1,344 dimming zones. Amazon says the TVs also have support for Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive for more vibrant colors, deeper blacks, and richer contrast.

Amazon says it has also added a new advanced light and color sensor which improves picture quality and optimizes scenes in real-time but also detects ambient light and uses that to adjust the brightness and color temperature regardless of the time of the day.

Another new sensor inside the Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series is a high-fidelity radar that responds to movement in front of the TV. A perfect use case for this sensor is when the TV is in Ambient Experience mode which is a sort of screensaver that displays artworks or useful information. When motion-based artworks such as fluttering butterflies and swimming fish are on display, they will respond to movement in front of the TV.

Amazon has also added a handful of premium gaming features such as AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, support for Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, and a 144Hz refresh rate when set to Gaming Mode. Surprisingly, Amazon doesn't say if the new TVs have support for Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The new smart TVs have two speakers and two sub-woofers along with support for Dolby Atmos audio for a cinematic audio experience. Amazon also says a new feature that will allow those with hearing aids to receive high-quality from the TV directly into their hearing aids while others listen through the TV's speakers will be made available soon.

The Fire TV Omni Mini-LED series is available to buy now on Amazon. It starts at $819.99 for the 55-inch version, goes up to $1089.99 for the 65-inch version, $1,499 for the 75-inch version, and $2,099.99 for the 85-inch version.
