Xbox Cloud gaming comes to Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen)
Last month, Amazon and Microsoft announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming would be available on select Amazon Fire TV Sticks, allowing owners of supported devices to play Xbox games on their TV without the need of a console. As at the time of the launch, the supported Fire TV devices were the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen), both released in 2023. Now the list of supported devices has grown with the addition of the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen) and the Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen).
With the addition of these two older Fire TV devices, even more people can jump on the Xbox Cloud Gaming service. All that's required of owners of the newly added devices is to download the Xbox app from the Amazon Appstore, sign in with their Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription details, and connect a compatible Bluetooth-enabled controller. There's also the need to have a strong internet connection, and if you own the Fire TV Cube, you should have a better connection thanks to an ethernet port which isn't available on the compact Fire TV Sticks.
Sadly, while Amazon is selling a Fire TV Stick 4K/4K Max & Xbox Controller gaming bundle, it isn't selling a Fire TV Cube & Xbox Controller bundle at the moment. However, the Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) is currently discounted to $109.99 (21% off its list price) for a limited time.
While the addition of these two Fire TV devices is good news, we can help but be disappointed that Amazon's Fire TV smart TVs including the pricey Omni Series are yet to be supported. Hopefully, they would be added in the future.
