Roku is rolling out an update to its Roku TVs and streamers that brings a handful of features to its smart home cameras. The features which were first announced in October include support for pinning camera feeds to the TV screen while watching a show or movie.

Roku is known for its streaming devices and smart TVs, but a few years ago, it branched out into smart home products that include cameras, motion sensors, door locks, plugs, and lights. In October, it revealed a handful of new features will come to the Roku TV this winter which makes it work better with its cameras. That update has now begun to roll out.

One of the new features the update brings is the ability to view a camera feed in picture-in-picture mode. Owners will be able to pin any of their Roku indoor and outdoor wired cameras to the corner of their TV screen while watching a show or movie. This feature can be handy if you are trying to keep an eye on your kids playing outside or your baby sleeping in the bedroom. According to the press release, this feature is supported on most 4K Roku Players and TVs.

The update also brings a camera carousel feature that cycles through all camera feeds based on activity or time intervals. (Image source: Roku)

Another new feature rolling out is Camera Carousel which automatically cycles through all your camera feeds on your TV. Owners will be able to choose whether they want the camera feed to cycle based on activity sensed (motion detection), time interval, or both.

Roku has also added support for Roku TVs to display camera notifications. Previously, users only received notifications on their smartphone when their camera sensed an activity. Now, they can choose to get the notifications on their TVs too.

Last but not least is the Roku Smart Home Web View feature which lets users view their camera feeds from a browser on a computer. To do this, just go to cameras.roku.com and sign in with your Roku account.
