Amazon Prime Video introduces AI-powered recaps in X-ray update

Amazon has rolled out an update for Prime Video's X-Ray feature that uses generative AI to recap show seasons or episodes. Amazon says that X-Ray Recap can generate "easy-to-digest summaries" for TV shows you watch. 

It can generate summaries for "full seasons of TV shows, single episodes, and even pieces of episodes, all personalized down to the exact minute of where you are watching".

X-Ray Recap shows users brief text snippets of key story moments, characters and other details. Amazon says it is also contextually aware of how much you have watched and will deliver spoiler-free summaries. 

Recap utilizes Amazon's Bedrock AWS service with custom AI models trained on Amazon SageMaker (AWS AI training tools) to analyze video segments and subtitles/dialogue to create descriptions of plot points, characters and events. 

Users can launch Recaps from the Prime Video detail page or select it from X-Ray during playback. To do this, tap on the screen during playback or press up on the FireTV remote and then click the "View All" button.
