This week, Game Pass subscribers can access two games that are typically exclusive to the Battle.net store. StarCraft Remastered and the StarCraft II: Campaign Collection will be available on Xbox Game Pass starting November 5. However, please note that both titles are only playable on PC.
StarCraft Remastered
StarCraft Remastered is the upgraded edition of the legendary 1998 real-time strategy game StarCraft, re-released in 2017 with enhanced graphics and updated features. The new edition brings back the epic battles between Terrans, Protoss and Zerg with modern graphics and improved sound effects, while remaining true to the gameplay of the original.
Players choose from one of three unique races and compete in real-time matches against other gamers or the computer. Each race has specific units, buildings and abilities that require different strategies. Classic and new leaderboards allow players to compete worldwide.
The regular price for the remastered version of StarCraft is around $15. On Metacritic, the real-time strategy classic has good ratings: a Metascore of 85 and a user score of 7.9.
StarCraft II: Campaign Collection
StarCraft II "Wings of Liberty" was released in March 2010 and not only brought better graphics compared to its predecessor, but also new units for each race. In 2013 and 2015, Blizzard released two further story expansions, "Heart of the Swarm" and "Legacy of the Void" respectively.
- Wings of Liberty (Terran): Players accompany the rebel leader Jim Raynor in his fight against the tyrannical Terran Dominion.
- Heart of the Swarm (Zerg): The story follows Sarah Kerrigan as she attempts to regain control of the Zerg Swarm and exact revenge on her betrayers.
- Legacy of the Void (Protoss): Players take on the role of Hierarch Artanis, who must unite the Protoss tribes to defeat an ancient threat known as Amon.
In the Battle.net store, the Campaign Collection normally costs around $40. On Metacritic, Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void were rated very positively. All three story releases have a Metascore of at least 88 and a user score of at least 8.0
