After launching the OnePlus 13, OnePlus seems to have turned its focus to the launch of a new model under its Ace series. The new model is expected to launch as the OnePlus Ace 5, and going by previous Ace models, it should be available outside China as the next OnePlus R-series phone, which in this case should be the OnePlus 13R. While a launch date is yet to be announced, specifications believed to be those of the OnePlus Ace 5 have appeared in a leak.
Posted on Weibo by Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus Ace 5 will reportedly have a 6.78-inch BOE X2 8T LTPO display. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, an upgrade over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset of its predecessor, the OnePlus Ace 3 a.k.a. the OnePlus 12R (curr. available on Amazon for $529.99). The Ace 5 will have 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There'll definitely be other configurations too, but whether they will all have UFS 4.0 storage remains to be seen.
The phone will have a 16MP front facing camera while the back of the phone will have triple sensors made up of a 50MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 2MP sensor. This is the same camera configuration as that of the Ace 3 which means the OnePlus 2MP curse is yet to be broken.
While the Ace 5 seems not to be getting a camera upgrade, it will be getting a larger battery capacity of at least 6,000mAh with support for 100W fast wired charging. In addition, the OnePlus Ace 5 should launch with ColorOS 15 based on Android 15 while the global variant should ship with Android 15-based OxygenOS 15.
According to ITHome, the OnePlus Ace 5 should be announced in December. However, its global variant, the OnePlus 13R will probably launch alongside the international version of the OnePlus 13.
