The 13R is thought to launch as the cut-price alternative to OnePlus' latest flagship Android smartphone - although it might come with some advantages of its own. It also definitely has 5G, according to a new leak. It is also purported to confirm that the device will indeed be available globally alongside the 13 itself.

The 13R is projected to launch as a smartphone that might look almost exactly like the OnePlus 13, but come with a 1.5K version of its top-end 2K display, the last-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC in place of the new 8 Elite and without the Hasselblad-emblazoned camera hump.

It is also touted to come with a larger battery for a smaller price relative to the otherwise full-fat 13. The 13R is also now thought to be OnePlus' most recent submission to the Global Certification Forum (GCF).

Its appearance on the group's list cannot do much more than confirm that the smartphone can use 5G - then again, it also contains the potentially crucial detail of novel model numbers.

They are CPH2645 and CPH2647, now believed to be 2 different SKUs of the same device: the 13R. Most importantly, they also denote international status in OnePlus and OPPO's shared nomenclature.

Accordingly, this new leak might constitute more fuel for the fire of speculation that the smartphone will debut as the 13R following its introduction to China as the Ace 5.

In the meantime, the 12R now starts at just $499.99 on Amazon.
