OnePlus Open 2 spec leak hints at 5700 mAh battery, three 50 MP cameras and ultra-slim design
Prominent leaker Digital Chat Station has just shared some key specifications expected to be seen on the OnePlus Open 2 and Oppo Find N5 foldable smartphones. Both models, like their predecessors, the OnePlus Open and Oppo Find N3 (reviewed here), are said to be identical, with the former being the internationally released one, and the latter being China-only. Both are expected to launch in Q1 of 2025.
In a post on Weibo, the leaker claims that “extreme slimness” will be the standout feature of the upcoming foldable. This supports their prior claim that it could be record-breaking, possibly even slimmer than the current crown-holder, the 9.2 mm thick Honor Magic V3 (read our review here). Although the overall design will remain the same, featuring the large round camera module, the screen size is said to be increased by an unspecified amount.
Speaking of the camera module, the new setup will supposedly carry three Hasselblad-tuned 50 MP cameras: a main camera, an ultra-wide and a periscope telephoto lens with 3x zoom. The battery also gets a significant boost to 5,700 mAh (in a dual-cell configuration), up from the previous 4,805 mAh, and with wireless charging available.
Finally, the foldable will be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which is also expected to be seen in a host of upcoming flagships including the OnePlus 13, the Xiaomi 15 series, the iQoo 13, the RedMagic 10 Ultra and the Asus ROG Phone 9.
Notably, some of this contradicts specs recently leaked by other sources, which hint at a larger 6,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery and a quad-camera setup identical to that expected on the Oppo Find X8 Ultra. With the launch still a few months away, we can expect more details to continue emerging.
