Many months have passed since Hori introduced the Horipad, stylised as 'HORIPAD for Steam'. Since then, many competitors have introduced new wireless controllers, whether that be GameSir, 8BitDo or even now Anbernic. Seemingly out of nowhere, Hori has released its long-awaited wireless controller globally, having brought it to Japan at the tail end of last month.
As the images below show, the Horipad contains various innovations over conventional wireless controllers. For instance, Hori has included customisable joysticks with built-in capacitive touch sensors. Moreover, the Horipad can switch between analog or digital trigger modes.
On top of that, the controller has a built-in gyroscope, although this is only available in Steam Mode. For reference, the Horipad can be used in wired or wireless mode; there is no 2.4 GHz wireless mode on offer, though. Currently, Hori is selling the Horipad for $59.99 through Amazon in a single blue colour option. As it stands, initial pre-orders should begin shipping on December 16.
