Based on Brad's post on X, both Ibex and Roy are currently being tooled for a mass production goal
. There's no info on what the Steam Controller 2 looks like and its features but more details should surface in the weeks or months leading up to its release.
However Brad revealed in a separate post the details of the VR headset's controller. The controller will have a D-pad, bumpers, triggers, grip buttons, ABXY buttons, a system button, and a strap according to info gotten from datamining and sources that prefer to remain anonymous. With both controllers nearing mass production, they might likely be announced together.
Although there is no info on pricing yet, the original Steam Controller cost $49.99 at launch and was eventually sold for $5 a piece in a fire sale when it was going to be discontinued. The Steam Controller 2 may retain the same price or cost a bit more.
When the Steam Controller 2 arrives, it will be facing stiff competition from several other controllers including the Xbox Wireless Controller, DualSense Wireless Controller, and controllers from brands such as 8BitDo, GameSir, and CRKD.
