PlayStation 5 Pro spec sheet allegedly leaks online: 8-core Zen 2 CPU confirmed along with 16 GB GDDR6 memory
While Sony didn't officially confirm any PlayStation 5 Pro's actual specifications, we had a good idea about them thanks to a bunch of leaks. An official-looking spec sheet has emerged online (H/T @videotechuk_ on X), allegedly originating from someone who got their console early. It is in Portuguese and reveals a bunch of information about Sony's upcoming console.
For starters, the PlayStation 5 Pro comes with an 8-core/16-thread Zen 2 CPU from AMD. It is paired with an unspecified RDNA GPU (16.7 TFLOPS). Presumably, Sony has left out the generation because it contains some RDNA 4 IP which is not official yet. Undoubtedly, it packs more firepower than the base PlayStation 5's 10 TFLOPS GPU, but that alone cannot be used as a metric for performance.
Additionally, the PlayStation 5 Pro comes with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory for graphics and 2 GB of DDR5 memory for everything else. Sony says the console can guzzle up to 390 Watts of power under full load; a fraction compared to what a high-end PC would use. Everything else is pretty much common knowledge, including Wi-Fi 7 support, two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, of which only one is rated at 10 Gbps and a 2 TB SSD with an extra M.2 Slot for further expansion.
At first glance, the PlayStation 5 Pro's hardware seems pretty anemic, especially its aged Zen 2 CPU. While the new RDNA 4 GPU might help with performance a little, a CPU bottleneck seems inevitable. But, a steady 4K 60 FPS (supposedly without PSSR according to one rumour) experience does seem possible without a sacrifice in visual fidelity, or, if a recent leak is true, 1440p 120 FPS. Regardless, PSSR has a lot of heavy lifting to do this generation.
