Xiaomi has since launched its latest compact Google TV streaming device, the TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen), in various markets around the world. The streaming stick looks to be one of the most powerful of its kind—despite its small form factor.
As tested by AFTVNews, the Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen) earns a single-core score of 1,078 on Geekbench and a multi-core score of 2,695. Those numbers are identical to its sibling, the Xiaomi Box S (3rd Gen) and the Onn 4K Plus. It's no surprise—all three devices are powered by Amlogic's S905X5M chipset after all. In comparison, the Google TV Streamer 4K scores 917 and 2,527 on those same tests.
It's more of the same on the GPU side. The Xiaomi TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen) scores 1,957 on GFXBench's T-Rex (Offscreen) test, again on par with the Onn 4K Plus and Box S (3rd Gen) but far superior to the Google TV Streamer 4K's 1,031 score.
Evidently, devices featuring the S905X5M SoC offer significantly better performance than older offerings on the market. Walmart's $29 Onn 4K Plus, as a result, delivers the best price-to-performance ratio on the market but is currently only available in the US. For those living in Europe and the rest of the world, Xiaomi's new TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen) costs about $45 and offers identical performance. It must be noted, though, that the Stick is equipped with just 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage. The slightly more expensive Box S (3rd Gen) comes with 32 GB of storage, however.
