Mozilla releases version 122 of the Firefox browser with support for passkeys

Mozilla Firefox 122 has been available for download since the 23rd of January and fixes several security vulnerabilities, two of which have been rated high by the development team. There are also new features such as advanced search, improved translation, passkey authentication and AI detection of fake Amazon reviews.

Numerous new features in Firefox 122

With the latest version 122, Firefox now also displays images and descriptions when searching in the browser's address bar, if the selected search engine offers this functionality. Mozilla has also revamped the relatively new translation feature, which should now be much more stable, fixing issues with content disappearing or interactive widgets breaking.

Passkeys are designed to enable password-free logins using fingerprint or facial recognition on smartphones or security keys. Firefox 122 is the first version of the browser to offer support for passkeys based on operating system solutions such as Windows Hello or Apple's iCloud keychain.

Firefox 122 can now use AI to detect potentially fake reviews on Amazon, although the feature is still in beta and not enabled by default. Interested users can try out the AI fake review check by typing "about:config" in the browser's address bar and enabling the "browser.shopping.experience2023.enabled" option (set to "true").
