Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition developers are proving to be effective marketers for the Nintendo Switch 2. The latest Creator's Voice video highlighted Switch 2 specs that make the handheld ideal for the game. CD Projekt Red also discussed how upgraded Joy-Con motion controls enhance immersion.
The Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers attach to the console with less fuss using magnets. They also offer a mouse mode for improved accuracy. The developers focused on how players could slash with katanas using motion controls. After practicing, gamers may potentially aim guns in Switch 2 games with more precision than with analog sticks.
Switch 2 patents suggested that the latest Joy-Cons employ a nine-axis motion sensor. With the original controllers tracking along six axes, gamers could benefit from the enhanced tracking. Some competitive Splatoon 2 gamers rely on the older generation accelerometers and gyroscopes. On the other hand, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a more mixed experience. While more interactive, some racers find the motion controls to be clunky.
When CD Projekt Red heaps praise on the Switch 2, it's hard to imagine the company isn't considering the Steam Deck. Motion controls with Valve's console are possible, but they often require more setup. PS5 users are also frustrated that more titles don't utilize the DualSense gyroscope. Cyberpunk 2077 on the console doesn't support the feature, even though it works surprisingly well in Gran Turismo 7.
The Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition video mentioned other Switch 2 specs, including VRR. The capability keeps a display's refresh rate in sync with frame rates, reducing screen tearing. Recently, there has been debate over whether VRR would work in docked mode. CD Projekt Red didn't confirm whether it was a handheld-exclusive option. Still, swinging katanas seems more natural with detached Joy-Cons.
