Ayaneo announces imminent availability of Pocket S2 gaming handheld

Ayaneo introduced the Pocket S2 in March 2025 as a new gaming handheld with the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3. During the first unveiling, the company detailed the core specs of the Android device, but it didn't share anything about the price and availability. Now, Mr. Zhang Ao (@尾巴大叔 on Weibo), the company's CEO, has confirmed a May 2025 launch.

However, there's still no word on the price of this new Android gaming handheld. It's worth noting that the last-gen Pocket S launched with an initial starting price of $339, and it's possible that the Pocket S2 will start at the $400 to $500 range.

For those who missed our previous coverage, the Pocket S2 is one of the first gaming handhelds to take advantage of the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3. At launch, Qualcomm highlighted that the SoC is equipped to deliver a noticeable performance jump over the G2 Gen 2, thanks to the improved core configuration and the Adreno A32 GPU.

Besides the new gaming-focused SoC, the Ayaneo Pocket S2 features a "much larger" battery than the predecessor and a 6.3-inch IPS display with a 1440p resolution. The gaming handheld also features Hall effect joysticks for precise input, and it will have support for a self-developed software ecosystem.

At the current stage, OneXPlayer's OneXSugar is one of the main competitors of the Pocket S2. However, like Ayaneo, OneXPlayer has yet to announce pricing and availability details for its new Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 gaming handheld.
