The Huawei Smart Door Lock 2 has been revealed in China. This new model offers a range of ways to unlock your door, including palm vein recognition and a fingerprint scanner. Plus, there is a built-in outdoor camera with live video shown on an internal integrated display or linked smart home devices like a TV.

Huawei has unveiled the Smart Door Lock 2 in China. It arrives as a successor to the original Smart Door Lock, which was launched in this country in 2022. This smart home device has a range of new features and improvements. For example, it is said to unlock faster and quieter than the older model.

The Smart Door Lock 2 also adds support for AI palm vein recognition, a feature which Huawei suggests is suitable for the whole family. Alternative methods for unlocking the door include fingerprint recognition, a password, or a physical key, or you can remotely unlock it via a linked smartphone or smart home control panel.

Huawei’s Smart Door Lock 2 has an integrated cat’s eye camera with a wide viewing angle of 161°. It is said to offer an AI human detection tool, with an image of the visitor shown on an integrated display on the inside handle. Other features include a two-way intercom and the ability to view the video live stream on a connected smartphone or smart home devices like the Huawei Smart Screen TV and Smart Central Control Screen. Plus, through the app, you can set up audio alerts triggered when you leave the house; these could be a voice message, like a reminder to buy something at the store, or a weather forecast. On top of this, the app allows you to receive automatic notifications when the door appears to be open.

The new Huawei smart door lock has a C-level lock cylinder, HarmonyOS 5 and an integrated 10,000mAh lithium-ion battery. The power supply is said to run for three to five months, with low-battery reminders sent to your phone. On top of this, there is an emergency power button and four backup AA batteries, allowing the core functions to operate. The Huawei Smart Door Lock 2 is now available in China for CNY 2,499 (~$344). The company has not announced any plans to bring this smart home product to regions like Europe.
