The TCL 85" Q5K QLED smart TV is now available at a US retailer. This cheaper 4K TV shares many similarities with its predecessor, including support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. However, TCL has switched from Fire TV to Google TV, making it compatible with Google Assistant and Google Chromecast.

The TCL 85" Q5K Series TV is now available at Best Buy in the US. Also known as model number 85Q5K, the cheaper TV shares some similarities with the 85Q550F, which was launched in 2024.

For example, the Q5K TV is a 4K LED TV with a native 60 Hz refresh rate and a direct LED backlight. Other features include QLED technology for vivid colors, Motion Rate 240 with MEMC frame insertion, and support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG. The main difference between the Q5K and its predecessor is that it features Google TV, replacing Fire TV as seen on the older model. Through the Google TV interface, you can access streaming apps like Netflix, Apple TV and Disney+, and the TV is also compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice commands.

Ports on the Q5K TV include three HDMI, one with eARC, LAN and USB-A. You can wirelessly connect devices via Wi-Fi 5 or Bluetooth 5.2, allowing you to mirror a screen via Google Chromecast. There also appear to be integrated speakers supporting Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X. According to TCL, there is a thin metal frame for a bezel-less appearance.

You can currently buy the TCL 85" Q5K Series 4K QLED Smart Google TV at Best Buy US for $749.99. It is listed with a $1,199.99 comparable value, which is the expected future price of the model, meaning customers could be saving $450. Whether or when other sizes could become available is unclear.
