The Panasonic Z85A 4K OLED TV in a 65-inch screen size has scored its biggest discount to date. The TV can now be yours for $800 less than list price. Packing an LG-made 4K OLED panel with deep contrast and a 120 Hz refresh rate, the Panasonic Z85 is meant for both content consumption and gaming.

Panasonic was at the forefront of the Plasma TV craze, which peaked in the mid-2000s. The company’s Plasma TVs were among the most popular choices. However, Panasonic TVs have taken a backseat in today’s market, as the company doesn’t have as big a presence as the likes of LG, Samsung, etc.

That said, Panasonic does have solid OLED TVs in its lineup, like the mid-range Z85A.

Released last year, the Panasonic Z85A features a WOLED panel, a native 120 Hz refresh rate, VRR technologies like AMD FreeSync, and more. So, the Panasonic Z85A plays in the same mid-range league as the LG C4/B4 OLED. As such, the Z85A can be a good purchase for folks in the market for an affordable OLED TV.

To that end, Amazon has now discounted the Panasonic Z85A 65-inch TV to just $999.99, a discount of $800 on the $1,799.99 list price (linked at the end). Moreover, this newly reduced price is the lowest ever for the TV, according to camelcamelcamel’s price history.

For $999.99, the Panasonic Z85A is an excellent value proposition, as the TV is rated an 8.1 for “Mixed usage” by Rtings. The publication notes that the Panasonic Z85A excels when it comes to color reproduction, delivering rich and super accurate colors in HDR/SDR. Moreover, thanks to Panasonic’s in-house HCX Pro AI Processor MK II image processor, the Z85A also handles image upscaling and content smoothing quite well.

The Panasonic Z85A also excels at gaming. With a 120 Hz refresh rate coupled with low input lag, a short response time, and full support for Xbox Series/PlayStation 5 consoles, the TV has everything that a modern gaming display should.

However, the Panasonic Z85A is not without its issues. For starters, the TV doesn’t get very bright. Additionally, the TV has only decent reflection handling. Combined with middling brightness, users who want something for use in a brightly lit room will need to look somewhere else.

In the end, if you don’t plan on using your TV in a bright environment, the Panasonic Z85A will be an excellent purchase at the discounted going price.
