Shelly is rolling out a new beta update, bringing Matter support to its Gen3 smart switches. These products allow you to automate or remotely control various appliances, like lights, heaters and blinds. Matter compatibility allows the devices to integrate with a wide range of smart home ecosystems, including Amazon Alexa, Apple Home and Google Home.
The firmware version 1.6.0 beta is now on the way to devices like the Shelly 1 Gen3, the Shelly 1L Gen3 and the Shelly Mini 1 Gen3 (curr. $14.99 at Amazon); a full list of devices which gain Matter compatibility with this update can be found below. This is a phased rollout, with eligible devices expected to receive the firmware in the coming weeks. The Shelly Gen4 smart switches, which came with Matter out of the box, launched in Europe in March 2025 and are also on the way to the US. The Shelly Plug S Gen3 smart plug also arrived with Matter built-in.
As well as support for the Matter protocol, the update brings compatibility with the LoRa add-on to many devices, and the ProDimmer1PM and the ProDimmer2PM can now begin calibration on the first toggle-on or with a simultaneous button press. You can find the complete changelog for firmware version 1.6.0 in a post on the company’s forum.
