The Xiaomi Portable Photo Printer 1S appears to be on the way to various markets worldwide. This pocket-sized device was recently spotted on the brand’s global website and allows users to print photos from their linked smartphone.
The Portable Photo Printer 1S uses zero-ink (ZINK) printing technology, which is said to be a faster and simpler solution. As such, there are no ink cartridges or ribbons, with colors thermally activated by the printhead. It has a 313 x 512 dpi print resolution, and the maximum print size is 2 x 3 inches (~50 x 76 mm). According to Xiaomi, it can print a single page in around 45 seconds, with the paper tray holding up to 10 sheets at a time.
You can connect up to three smartphones simultaneously via Bluetooth 5.2, and the following file formats are supported: JPEG, PNG and HEIF. In the Xiaomi Home app, you can customize your photos with a range of borders, watermarks, templates and filters. The device is powered by a 500mAh lithium ion polymer battery, said to offer a printing capacity of around 20 sheets, recharging via USB-C. The printer is described as slim and ultra-light, measuring 124 x 82 x 22mm (~4.8 x 3.2 x 0.9 inches) and weighing around 180 g (~6.4 oz).
The Xiaomi Portable Photo Printer 1S comes with five sheets of adhesive-backed photo paper, with further paper packs already available via Amazon in European countries like Germany, priced at €13.20 for 20 sheets. However, the company does not clarify whether or not it is compatible with similar paper products from other brands. Xiaomi has yet to reveal when this new product will launch or how much it will cost. As a rough guide on the price, this product retails in China for 399 yuan ($55).
