Xiaomi offers a diverse range of products, including compact portable printers. Amongst them is the upcoming Mijia Pocket Photo Printer Pro, set to launch in China on 16 June for ¥599 (approximately $84). Currently, this model has only been announced for the Chinese market, with pricing and availability for other regions yet to be confirmed. Whilst the pricing may seem reasonable, the additional costs of using such portable printers shouldn’t be underestimated, as they require special thermal paper containing dyes that are selectively activated by heat.
The portable printer uses compact photo paper measuring 50 x 76 mm (2 x 3 in) and can hold up to ten sheets of regular paper. However, if users want to print on self-adhesive photo paper, only five sheets can fit in the device at a time. The printer supports a resolution of 313 DPI, capable of printing in both colour and 256 levels of greyscale. According to Xiaomi, each print takes around one minute to develop.
True to its name, the Mijia Pocket Photo Printer Pro boasts a highly portable design, measuring just 142.5 x 86.9 x 26.8 mm (5.6 x 3.4 x 1.1 in) and weighing 308 g (10.9 oz). It is powered by an 880 mAh battery and is compatible with the Xiaomi Home app. Furthermore, it offers interesting smart features, such as the ability to embed voice messages or AR video clips in photos.
