Xiaomi Sound Move arrives as new portable Bluetooth speaker with 21 hours battery life and Apple AirPlay 2 support

Xiaomi has released a new Bluetooth speaker in China, as well as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Smart Band 8, Pad 6 series and a new TV Master model. Dubbed the Xiaomi Sound Move, the speaker contains four drivers that sit within a 177 x 55.5 x 55.5 mm housing that wighs 568 g. For reference, Xiaomi has included two 1.75-inch full-range drivers and two passive radiators that combine to deliver up to 15 W of power at 90 dB.

According to Xiaomi, it has partnered with Harman, which has applied its AudioEFX software-based audio tunings. Additionally, the speaker supports AirPlay 2, Bluetooth 5.3 and the LHDC Bluetooth codec. The Sound Move supports Wi-Fi connectivity, but only up to 802.11 n on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. As Xiaomi's promotional images show, it has included a few hardware buttons on the speaker's top edge for controlling Bluetooth connectivity, media playback and its built-in microphones.

Moreover, Xiaomi claims that the Sound Move will deliver up to 21 hour runtimes from its 4,150 mAh battery. Xiaomi promises that the speaker is IP66 certified against dust and water too. Currently, Xiaomi has only revealed pricing in China, where it is available for CNY 699 (~US$102). It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi will launch the Sound Move in other countries, though.
